Buck Tag

The buck tag is also known as the body tag or the build tag and can normally be found at the radiator support area…for Dearborn built cars. This was used on the assembly line by the Body and Paint line to help identify what options the car had ordered that required punching holes or drilling. This was done prior to painting to avoid damage to the finishes.
The picture here is the original buck tag which looks like it was never moved since there is still bare metal underneath the tag. Some of the codes you can see here are TW (tilt steering column), PB (Power Disc Brakes), RM (rocker mouldings), SC (Convienence Check Group), CS (Collapsable Spare). The tape that is on the buck tag may have had written on it BTRAC which is Both Racing Mirrors a new option that was added to the assembly line and buck tags during this period.
